Sheffield United will be buoyed by the performance of Rhian Brewster for England under-21s last night.
The club’s record signing was in action for the Young Lions as they took on Andorra. And despite not getting on the scoresheet, Brewster put in a sharp and accomplished performance for Aidy Boothroyd’s side.
Brewster caused problems for the Andorra defence all night with his movement and speed up top, before striking a post with a vicious effort.
The Blades starlet wasn’t done there, though, and after inviting some nasty looking challenges throughout, was chopped down to win a penalty which Callum Hudson-Odoi duly dispatched in the second period.
Indeed, the Mirror’s match report gave Brewster a very healthy 7/10 for his performance, as high as anyone else in the XI. Aaron Ramsdale also captained the Young Lions, but didn’t have much to do barring the goal the Andorran’s managed.
A timely boost for United here
Most Blades fans will admit that they’d rather our players simply stay at home for the coming weeks rather than risk injury.
John Egan has already caused a scare, while Enda Stevens pulled out prior and coincidentally, Brewster also took a hard knock last night.
But in a way, this could help United. Brewster needs minutes under his belt, it is abundantly obvious and is something Chris Wilder has even pointed out.
Hopefully this performance can give him a nice boost in fitness and confidence and he can return to Bramall Lane ready to fire us to three points against a tricky West Ham side.
