Reported Sheffield United target Adlene Guedioura at Bramall Lane for Huddersfield loss

Sheffield United transfer target, Adlene Guedioura, could be on his way to the club after he was confirmed as being at Bramall Lane yesterday.

The Blades once again endured a miserable day at the office under Slavisa Jokanovic. Billy Sharp’s goal looked to have salvaged a point, but the Terriers struck in injury time to seal the win.

New signings are now a must for United and Jokanovic. And with ten days to go until the transfer window closes, it appears United could be close to bringing Guedioura in.

Reports a few months back had claimed Guedioura could be reunited with Jokanovic. But since then, there’s been little to no transfer movement.

However, in a blatant show of ‘I am probably signing for Sheffield United’, Guedioura used his own Instagram account to show he was at The Lane yesterday.

There isn’t any other explanation for Guedioura being at Bramall Lane really. Unless, of course, he’s planning on signing for Huddersfield or just really like chip butties!

Expect, then, to see the experienced midfielder announced in the coming days.

Our View: Guedioura is old…but maybe we need him right now?

Let’s be honest, the building for the future model has hardly gone brilliantly, has it?

Brewster, McBurnie, Bogle, Mousset, Lowe, Berge, were all signed by the last regime but you can’t exactly say any have done superbly well. Some have done better than others, granted.

But at this moment in time, this Sheffield United team needs bodies and it needs winners. So while Guedioura might be 35, he is also vastly experienced and knows this league well.

He’s also a trusted player of Jokanovic. Chris Wilder had those sorts of players in the squad, so there’s no reason why Jokanovic shouldn’t.

Despite his age, Guedioura still boasts plenty of energy, a good engine, an eye for a pass, and a thunderbolt of a shot. If anything, the could lift the place and at least give Slavisa another option in what has been a dire midfield.
