Celtic target David Parkhouse admits that he doesn’t know if he has a future at Sheffield United or not.
Football Insider reports that the Scottish champions are interested in signing Parkhouse. His current contract with the Blades expires at the end of this season.
The 20-year-old has recently returned to Bramall Lane having been on loan at League of Ireland side Derry City. Parkhouse scored 11 goals for Derry in 2019. As a result he was named in the team of the year and is nominated for the young player of the year award.
Yet despite his success, the striker doesn’t know if he will be offered a new deal by United.
“At the minute, to be honest, I don’t know what’s happening,” Parkhouse told The42.
“I know what I want to happen. I know I want to be a footballer and wherever’s going to get me the best opportunity, that’s where I want to be.
“Between the end of this week and January, there’s a lot of talking to be done, a lot of negotiating. It’s going to take a few months to figure out what the best plan is – it’s not going to happen overnight.
“Ultimately, I want to be where I’m going to get games.”
Other than Celtic, who else wants David Parkhouse?
The same Football Insider reports also says that Everton and Blackburn Rovers are interested in Parkhouse.
The youngster has been favourably likened to Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy, who currently leads the Premier League scoring charts with nine goals.
The Toffees are said to be “actively monitoring” Parkhouse, but the Hoops could have the advantage.
That is because, as a foreign club, they can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the Northern Ireland Under-21 international when he enters the final six months of his current deal.
For Parkhouse, that would be January. However, for English sides they would need to wait until he was a free agent before speaking to him.
