Sheffield United face more competition if they wish to sign Jonson Clarke-Harris, this time from West Brom, according to reports this weekend.
Football Insider make the claim, suggesting that the Baggies could look to challenge United for the signature of Clarke-Harris.
The Blades have, along with Rangers, been linked with a move for Clarke-Harris in recent weeks. His goalscoring exploits with Peterborough have not gone unnoticed it seems. In fairness to him, he has smashed in over 30 goals this term.
But West Brom could look to muscle in, according to Football Insider.
Interestingly, West Brom are being linked with a move for former United boss Chris Wilder. We’ve already looked at how Wilder might try and raid the Blades anyway, here.
It remains to be seen if United or the Baggies, for that matter will make a bid. The Posh are said to value Clarke-Harris at over £6m. But with promotion secured, Darragh McAnthony may demand even more if he is to sell his star forward.
West Brom want Jonson Clarke-Harris
And so it begins. One weekend a player is linked with United, and week down the line he’s wanted somewhere else. You get the impression the Blades and the Baggies are going to be paired with quite a few similar names.
It would be a surprise for United to sign Clarke-Harris. Up top is one area we do have numbers and quality for the Championship. And at £6m or more, we could invest elsewhere.
But, at least it’s nice to be linked with some players. Albeit we have no manager, so it’s hard to see anyone being signed just yet.
