Report: Tyrese Campbell set to stay with Stoke City

Sheffield United target, Tyrese Campbell, has turned down a move to both Rangers and Celtic and is now set to stay with the Potters.

According to Sky Sports reporter, Rob Dorsett, the youngster is set to sign a new deal with Stoke after talks with Michael O’Neill. That will put the brakes on a potential move to the Blades, who have been linked with a move for Campbell in the last week.

Campbell has apparently spoken to both Rangers and Celtic but informed them of his desire to stay in England.

But instead of making a move to Sheffield, it now appears Campbell has been talked round by Michael O’Neill and will stay with the Championship club.

O’Neill has thrust the young striker into the first XI this season and he has repaid that faith with five goals so far. Despite the Potters struggling in general, Campbell’s form has been a rare shining light.

If Campbell does pen a new deal, it will be a blow to Chris Wilder, who would have been hoping to add to his striking options before the end of next week.

A blow, but the club will move on

Signing someone like Campbell would have been a decent addition to the ranks. The Blades don’t have too many young players in the ranks so adding someone like the Stoke youngster would have been ideal.

However, as always, the club will move on to other targets.

In fairness to Campbell, he’s getting regular game time at Stoke. If he wants to play regular first-team football and develop, then this is probably the smartest move he could make.

Hopefully he can kick on and enjoy a productive career in the Championship. If he continues to impress, a Premier League move won’t be too far off anyway for the 20-year-old.
