Report: Talks continuing as Callum Robinson nears West Brom switch

Callum Robinson could still join West Brom in the coming days as talks continue between the Blades and the Baggies.

Robinson has fallen out of favour somewhat at Bramall Lane in recent months. With United having five senior strikers on the books, he’s found games and goals hard to come by.

Furthermore, the form of Oli McBurnie and Lys Mousset appears to have cemented the pair as Chris Wilder’s main front two.

And according to the Sheffield Star, talks are ongoing between United and Albion. It is hoped that a move can be completed for Robinson which would see him spend the rest of the season on loan.

That would give the former Preston man a chance at regular game time. The Blades, meanwhile, would be hoping to see Robinson progress and improve under Slaven Bilic.

Robinson has only scored one Premier League goal this term. He did notch against AFC Fylde in the cup a few weeks back too.

Furthermore, he’s also helped contribute to some vital points. His goal and assist against Chelsea rescued a point at Stamford Bridge, while his footwork set Oli McBurnie up for an equaliser against Man United.

A smart move for all concerned

After starting the season well enough, something hasn’t been quite right with Robinson in recent times. Whether dipping in and out of the squad is disrupting any consistency he might get into, has to be considered.

A move to West Brom might work out well for Robinson. The Baggies are desperate for new recruits given their precarious position in the top two of the Championship.

Robinson, then, would help them along nicely. He scored 12 league goals for Preston last term, proving his worth in the second tier.

Chris Wilder won’t want to give up on Robinson just yet you’d imagine. But with new faces set to arrive and Robinson down the pecking order, a move to the Baggies might well be best for all parties here.
