Report: Sheffield United tipped to step up interest in Mady Camara

Sheffield United could be about to step up their interest in Olympiakos midfielder, Mady Camara.

The energetic midfield star was in fine form this week for the Greek side against Arsenal. The Blades have been linked with a move for Camara and were reportedly set to send a scout to the Emirates for the game this week.

And according to Daily Express journalist, Konstantinos Lianos, the Blades will increase their pursuit of Camara following his impressive showing.

Camara was the standout player for Olympiakos as they sent the Gunners crashing out of the Europa League. His energy, commitment, and ability with the ball saw him catch the eye for the Greek giants.

The performance will have done his chances of a move to Bramall Lane no harm. After spending big in January, the Blades are once again expected to be active in the summer months.

Having tracked Sander Berge for some time, it would not be a surprise to see United make their move for Camara. However, Chris Wilder will not just go off one game. He is known to be meticulous in deciding who he signs. Therefore, it might take more than one impressive performance at Arsenal to convince the Blades boss.

Who is Mady Camara and why might Sheffield United want him?

We have covered before what Camara might bring to the table. Those attributes were on full display this past week in the middle of the park.

It’s little surprise to see United supposedly interested in Camara. The Blades do have midfield options but could do with adding further qualitry if they can.

John Lundstram has yet to sign a new deal, while the aforementioned Berge is still adapting. John Fleck and Oli Norwood have both been in fine form, although the likes of Luke Freeman haven’t had too big of an impact at Bramall Lane.

The signing of Camara, then, would bring more depth and European experience to the ever-improving Blades.
