Sheffield United are close to confirming their fourth signing of the summer with a deal for Barcelona youngster Alex Collado all but done.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Sport, who claim that Collado has finally agreed to a deal with the Blades. It comes after the young Spaniard was told he’d not be playing any part for Barca this season under Ronaldo Koeman.
Despite initially being unsure of the move to Bramall Lane, Collado appears to have been convinced to join Slavisa Jokanovic’s men. If a deal is announced, the 22-year-old would become the fourth signing of the summer for United.
Collado can fill a number of positions in the attacking midfield area. And it’s an area United have been crying out for new blood in.

The Blades have scored just the single Championship goal this season and that came in a 2-1 home defeat to Huddersfield. Jokanovic has already signed Ben Davies and Conor Hourihane, while Morgan Gibbs-White has also arrived on loan today from Wolves.
Collado, meanwhile, is highly-regarded in Spain. Despite not breaking in as much as he’d like for Barca, he has still made first-team appearances and appeared over 80 times for the Barcelona B side.
Our View: Alex Collado an exciting and unknown addition for United
This is unknown territory for Sheffield United fans but it’s the sort of signing which we can be excited about.
It’s not often we land players from top clubs such as Barcelona, so hopefully, we have got a good one here. Of course, a deal is yet to be announced.
If Collado can produced the goods and hit the heights many in Spain have predicted, then United have quite the player. He’ll bring a new style, ability on the ball, and should catch the eye.
This window needed new players. The squad needed to be given a kick up the backside. With the other three signings, and now Collado potentially arriving, United’s board have delivered.
