Sheffield United are ready to bite the bullet and open talks with former Fulham boss, Slavisa Jokanovic, according to local journalists.
United suffered another miserable defeat with Paul Heckingbottom and Jason Tindall in temporary charge. It was a performance and result of a team lacking direction and leadership.
And according to both James Shield of the Sheffield Star, and Alan Biggs, United are now ready to try and initiate talks with Jokanovic.
Jokanovic is one of the names mentioned who has United fans at least a bit excited. His teams at both Fulham and Watford played exciting, attacking football. He’s also won promotion from the Championship and is said to be keen on a return.
The Blades moving for Jokanovic is a change in tact. It was claimed a few weeks back that the Serbian was NOT on the shortlist of potential managers.
However, latest performances, coupled with work-permit issues for Alexander Blessin, seem to have jumped Jokanovic back up the queue.
Jokanovic to Sheffield United – Yes please, and quickly
This Sheffield United team is finishing the season with a whimper. It needs a new voice, new tactics, and in the summer, new players.
Jokanovic coming in is as good as we can hope for. He ticks more than one box and should get us playing good football. He’ll also know the European market well, and should sit nicely in Prince Abdullah’s planned structure at the club.
Unfortunately for Paul Heckingbottom, it’s just not worked. It’s only right, then, that the club actively pursues a new coach. And Jokanovic is as good as there is out there right now.
