Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is confident the club can land both Matty Cash and John Swift this summer despite facing resistance from their current clubs.
According to the Sheffield Star, Wilder is thought to be now pressing ahead with his plot to land the Forest and Reading stars, even though initial approaches have been rejected.
The Star claims that the Blades negotiating team are confident of making a breakthrough soon. Reading are thought to be playing hardball over Swift while Forest are more open to selling Cash but only at the right price.
The Reds want a reported £15m for their player of the season but are also said to be keen on United midfielder, Luke Freeman, who may be used to soften up the City Ground outfit.
Swift, meanwhile, is said to be keen on working with Chris Wilder and wants to play in the Premier League. Wilder, then, will be hoping this is enough to force a move through eventually.
Looking promising this, Wilder is usually confident he’ll get his men – Our View
Wilder usually keeps pretty shtum when it comes to transfers so if there is an inkling coming out from local media it suggests that the Blades boss might have passed comment.
He and Stephen Bettis seem to be a good working partnership so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Swift or Cash, or even both, arrive in the coming days.
Both players would add quality and depth, too. With John Lundstram likely to leave, Swift is the ideal replacement while Cash will put pressure on George Baldock and offer versatility too.
They are exactly the sorts of player we need and should fit in nicely to our system while also giving added options for a change in our formation if needed.
