Sheffield United are being linked with a move for yet another striker, with Billel Omrani the latest name to be mentioned.
The Blades are actively seeking to strengthen their squad in January. After already bringing in Jack Rodwell, Chris Wilder is now keen on exploring other areas of the pitch he feels need adding too.
One of those areas could be upfront. Despite spending a chunk of money in the summer on Oli McBurnie, Lys Mousset, and Callum Robinson, the Blades gaffer is still keen to see more goals.
And according to Algerian football website, DZ Football, Omrani is someone on the radar for Sheffield United.
The 26-year-old is currently playing over in Romania with CFR Cluj. He’s bagged 13 times in all competitions this season, with six of those coming in Champions League qualification.
Who is Billel Omrani and would he slot in at Bramall Lane?
Omrani is a French-born striker who holds Algerian citizenship. He’s played for the youth set up for France, featuring in the under-19s while playing for Marseille.
However, he never really got his break with the French giants. Subsequently, he moved to Romania and Cluj back in 2016, where he has played a key role as the club has enjoyed success in Europe.
He plays predominantly as a centre-forward. But thanks to his pace and movement he can slot in on either wing if needed. He bagged nine times last season in all competitions.
The Blades currently have different striking options. Omrani would bring something different yet again. However, it’s impossible to tell if this is a player United have looked at given how coy Chris Wilder is over potential signings.
There’s little doubt that, as January progresses, we will see more and more names linked with the Blades.
It looks like that, for now, Billel Omrani is just another of those names to be mentioned as the January window kicks into full gear.
