Sheffield United have Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie in their sights but could miss out on the Scottish midfielder to Southampton.
The Sun report today that Christie is available at a knockdown price in the immediate, while he is also out of contract in the summer. It’s claimed that the Saints are working on a deal now. But, they are also said to be willing to wait until the summer.

The report also mentions interest from Sheffield United and Burnley. The Sun claim that Christie is further down the Blades’ list, which suggests we have other targets in mind.
Christie has won the Scottish title three times with Celtic. The 26-year-old has 20 caps for his country. He scored seven times in all competitions last season, adding an impressive 15 assists in the process.
The Blades are desperate to add some attacking midfielders before the window shuts in ten days. United have scored just one goal all season, and lost again yesterday, this time to Huddersfield Town.

Our View: Sheffield United should push for Christie, he is ideal
While we can’t compete with the wages Southampton would offer, we could try and tempt Celtic into a sale. We all know Prince Abdullah has little to no money, but the club have just landed £24m for Aaron Ramsdale.
Some of that simply has to be put back into the first XI and squad. Christie brings goals, assists, and runs from midfield which cause trouble in the attacking third.
But, once again, he could be on his way to the PL. This relegation seems to have hit United hard and the struggle to sign players seems very much real.
