Manchester United could be set to hand Sheffield United a huge boost in the Blades’ pursuit to keep hold of Dean Henderson.

According to a report from TeamTalk, the Red Devils are said to be willing to allow Henderson to join the Blades on a permanent deal. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men are keen for Henderson to keep playing football but don’t want him to go to a rival such as Spurs or Chelsea.

That, then, opens the door for Sheffield United to make their move. The report claims that the Old Trafford club are willing to sell Henderson to the Blades, on the condition that a buy-back clause is inserted into the deal. That clause would then see Henderson move back to Manchester at a later, but not yet specified, date.

The news could be a massive boost for the Blades, who are desperate to keep their number one. He has already kept nine clean sheets this season. Only Alisson at Liverpool has more following the Reds’ win at Norwich yesterday.

Man United, meanwhile, have David De Gea tied down to a long-term deal. Solskjaer does not appear close to dropping the Spaniard anytime soon. That would see Henderson play the number two role next term, something he has already stated he doesn’t want to do.

It just keeps getting better for the Blade

Surely at some point, the good news will stop filtering through for Sheffield United? If this report is to be believed, then it could have massive implications for the club.

Henderson is, without doubt, top of the summer shopping list in the eyes of most supporters. In fact, a lot would be more than happy to see minimal business if it meant Henderson returning again.

However, talk of a permanent move has always been played down. But this report seems to suggest it is a possibility. That, of course, would be massive for the Blades and surely something they’d pursue.

What the finer details of the deal would be are unknown. But make no mistake, this would be massive news at Bramall Lane.
