Sheffield United are edging ever closer to completing a deal for Derby County defender, Max Lowe, with the Rams ace in Sheffield today for his medical.

The Blades are reportedly close to a double deal for both Lowe and his teammate, Jayden Bogle. It is believed United will pay between £10-15m for the pair if reports are to be believed.

And according to Craig Hope from the Daily Mail, United will wrap up the signing of Lowe today if all is well with his medical.  Hope claims the 23-year-old is on his way to Sheffield to complete his medical, which means a deal will, hopefully, be announced tomorrow.

Lowe will provide competition and cover for current Blades left-back, Enda Stevens. His signing is a big boost for Chris Wilder, who has spoken at length about the need to improve the group and give certain areas genuine competition for places.

The Derby star has been a regular over the last 12 months at Pride Park, emerging as a key figure for Phillip Cocu.

Looks like a case of formalities being completed, this is smart business

We’ve already spoken about what the signings of Lowe and Bogle will bring to the Blades. Both players are accomplished Championship footballers and should relish the chance of the step-up in quality.

Wilder knows what he is doing in general in the market. This looks, on paper, to be a good deal for the club.

Lowe is only 23 and will have time on his side to learn the Sheffield United way and, crucially, dip into the mind of Enda Stevens to try and master the position.

Hopefully, we see the best of both Bogle and Lowe over the next 12 months and they’ll prove shrewd acquisitions for the club.
