Sheffield United could make a late move to sign Sampdoria defender, Omar Colley, as Chris Wilder looks to bring in defensive reinforcements following Jack O’Connell’s injury.
That is according to respected Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira, who claims that both the Blades and Fulham have enquired about the Gambian defender.
It is claimed that the Serie A club are looking for a permanent deal for Colley, with Sampdoria looking to bring in a fee of around £10m for their man.
However, Schira claims that United and the Cottagers have offered deals which are loan to buy. Given United’s spending already in the window, it is not surprising to see a loan being touted as the option.
Colley has been a regular for Sampdoria, playing 31 times last season and maintaining his place this season for Claudio Ranieri’s outfit. Capped 12 times by Gambia, the 27-year-old fits with what Chris Wilder is looking for in terms of a new central defender.
Wilder admitted following the defeat to Arsenal that his recruitment team was working on a number of defensive targets, with Terence Kongolo another name in the frame.
The Blades have had a busy window once again. Rhian Brewster and Aaron Ramsdale have arrived for big sums, while Jayden Bogle, Max Lowe, and Oliver Burke have also come through the door. Ethan Ampadu has also arrived on loan from Chelsea.
