Sheffield United are among a number of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Grimsby Town youngster, Mattie Pollock.
That is, according to the Daily Mail, who claim the Blades are keen on the teenager alongside both Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 18-year-old defender has risen to prominence this season for the Mariners, even going on to captain the League Two outfit despite his tender age. Indeed, the report from the Mail claims comparisons has already been made with Manchester United skipper and former Blade, Harry Maguire.
Pollock made 27 appearances last season and has a good pedigree. He is the son of former Premier League player, Jamie Pollock, and is widely regarded as the top talent for Grimsby.

The Blades, then, could see this as an ideal opportunity to snap up a young and emerging player from the lower leagues, with wages and a fee unlikely to be an issue.

Chris Wilder has yet to really blood many youngsters since coming to Bramall Lane. However, he is keen to ensure the future is in good hands and consistently talks about short, medium, and long-term planning for United.

This isn’t a signing that is going to come in and make an immediate impact, nor is it one who is going to get United fans off their seats.
However, while the here and now is important, it’s also crucial that United look for up and coming players who will have an important role to play in the future.
Pollock fits that mould and with a bit of luck, will be tempted by the move to Bramall Lane ahead of a long journey down south from his hometown.
