Sheffield United defender, Kean Bryan, is wanted by German outfit Schalke 04, according to respected journalist, Alan Nixon.
Bryan, 24, has been offered a new deal by United. However, as yet, there is no news on if he will put pen to paper. With the players away and Slavisa Jokanovic not yet in the building as such, Bryan’s future remains up in the air.
And according to Nixon, Schalke are looking to offer Bryan a route out of England and Bramall Lane.
Schalke are one of the most well-known names in the German game but have had an utter disaster this term. They have been relegated from the Bundesgliga. In fact, such has been their misery, that fans even protested and rioted when relegation was confirmed.
For Bryan, he now faces a big decision on what to do next. He knows he isn’t going to be number one choice for United. But on the flipside, he might struggle to cement himself as number one elsewhere.
United offering him terms suggests he is in their plans. However, just how deep into those plans he is will be down to Jokanovic.
Sheffield United News View: Kean Bryan a good squad player but that’s as far as it goes
Being completely honest, most Blades probably won’t be too fussed whether Bryan stays or goes.
Sure, he’s a good player to have a round. He can play left-back, wing-back, and centre-back if needed. He had his crowning moment by scoring the winner at Manchester United.
However, he’s also looked rocky at times. In addition, Jack Robinson also finished the season very well.
The biggest argument to really want to keep Bryan is the fact he is a body that would need replacing. Finding players who’ll sign knowing they won’t play all the time is hard work.
But in reality, it won’t upset this Sheffield United squad too much if Bryan does decide Germany is his best option.
