Sheffield United are within touching distance of signing Rhian Brewster for a club-record fee from Liverpool.
Numerous reports this morning confirmed that the Reds youngster was in Sheffield to complete his move to Bramall Lane, and it appears an announcement could be made soon.
According to the Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Brewster has now passed his medical and will sign a five-year deal with United, although he will be unavailable for the game with Arsenal this weekend.
However, that will be of little concern to Chris Wilder, who will have prepared all week without Brewster and will, no doubt, have his team already decided for the weekend clash in north London.
Brewster’s signing will bring an end to the long-running saga of the summer for the Blades. It is expected he will cost around £23m, a fee which will surpass the amount paid for Sander Berge in January.
The Blades have failed to score this season, meaning a striker was a must. And the United board have seemingly backed Chris Wilder once more, digging deep to fund the move for Brewster.
