Sheffield United could move ahead of the pack in the race to sign Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, according to reports.
Sky Sports claims that French club Nice have now withdrawn their interest in bringing Lingard to Ligue 1, potentially leaving the door wide open for Chris Wilder to exploit.

Lingard is thought to be high on the agenda of the Blades boss in terms of January arrivals, with the Sheffield Star claiming Wilder has even sent a presentation dossier to try and lure the Man United ace.
Further claims of interest from the likes of Spurs and Inter Milan is unlikely to be followed up. In particular, Spurs would need to move their 25-man squad about to accomodate Lingard as things stand.
United, meanwhile, are crying out for creativity from midfield and Lingard fits the bill, despite his lack of game time this season.

With Nice dropping out of the race, Chris Wilder might well just have that little glint in his eye when next asked about a potential deal.
It carries on, but this looks promising
The situation with Lingard seems to change more than the British weather but at least this plays into United’s hands a bit.
We are in desperate need of a player to spark us into life and Lingard can be that man, given his quality, experience, and personality.
If Nice have dropped out, then the Blades need to be pushing things this week and taking the opportunity to press ahead.
