Sheffield United midfielder, Sander Berge, is being monitored by Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Jeunes Footeux, Berge is on the radar of a number of clubs and they are considering making a move for the Norwegian star in January. It’s claimed by JF that the Blades would be open to a bid in the region of £30m for Berge. As we know, that comes below the widely known £35m release-clause United have in Berge’s contract.

Berge has been one of the stars of the show at Bramall Lane this season. After nearly leaving in the summer, Berge has knuckled down and shown just how good he can be at this level in a more advanced role.

The midfielder recently admitted in an interview with TV2 that there had been a lot of interest in him this summer.

“There was a lot of interest, concrete interest, you weighed things up a little bit, it had to work out for both the club and me, and it didn’t happen. It’s always nice to sit in one position and know that there were clubs that were very interested,” Berge said.

Berge has been a wanted man ever since United were relegated. Newcastle were said to be keen on him a year or so ago, while Liverpool are known to have been admirers for some time.

Our View: Berge Stays If United Keep Pushing

If Sheffield United get to January top of the table and pushing on to win the league and go up, then there is simply no way that Sander Berge leaves. The club would be silly to sell and Berge himself would surely look to stay.

It’s a huge season this for United. With so many out of contract this summer, a lot hinges on whether or not the Blades can win promotion or not.

If that can be achieved, then he will probably get fresh terms and become a key player for United well into the future. Of course, a move to Liverpool would appeal to Sander Berge, as would the other clubs, but he’s in a good place at United and PL football would surely see him stay put.
