Leeds United could be set to steal a march on Sheffield United and make a move for Luke Woolfenden this summer.
The 21-year-old was linked with a move to Bramall Lane during the January transfer window. However, nothing ever materialised and the defender remained with the Tractor Boys for the remainder of the campaign.

However, the latest reports from TWTD claim that both Leeds and Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for Woolfenden. A move from either club could scupper any hope the Blades had of potentially rekindling their interest come the summer months.
Woolfenden has been a regular for Ipswich this season. He’s completed 90 minutes in all 31 games he has started thus far.

Predominantly a central defender, the youngster is also adept at full-back if needed. It was this sort of versatility which will have attracted Chris Wilder during January.
Given United’s expansive overlapping centre-back system, Wilder is often keen to bring in a defender who is comfortable with the ball and going forward.
One that got away
With Leeds and Palace now interested and United bringing in the likes of Jack Rodwell and Panos Retsos, it would appear Luke Woolfenden might be one that got away for the Blades.
There’s little doubt the Ipswich man will go on to have a fine career. At just 21 he’s already a first-team regular with a big club in Ipswich.

Unfortunately for the Tractor Boys, it looks like they will be in League One for a good while yet. Sitting in tenth, the club is looking less and less like making the top six as the week’s tick by.
This will play into the hands of the likes of Leeds. Of course, there is a chance Sheffield United could reinstate their interest if they decide not to take Retsos on a permanent deal.
However, for now, it looks like Woolfenden won’t be playing at Bramall Lane next season.
