Leeds United have reportedly withdrawn any interest they had in signing Blades midfielder, Luke Freeman.

According to David Anderson of The Mirror, the Whites have set their sights on other targets. This, despite claims earlier in the week that Freeman was indeed a target for Marcelo Bielsa.

However, this latest update appears to have put to bed any potential move what might have been in the offing for the Blades midfielder.

In fairness to Freeman, he did move himself to insist he’d not heard any talk of a potential move to Elland Road.

“It’s news to me completely,” Freeman said (Sheffield Star).

“I’m enjoying my time at United, I’m enjoying the Premier League. So all I can do is keep working hard, and long may it continue. I just want to keep my head down and see where it takes me.”

Freeman’s comments, coupled with the report from Anderson, appear to have completed quashed any talk of the former QPR man moving on – for now at least.

No need to move Freeman on for Blades

United only shelled out decent money for Freeman in the summer. It makes little sense, then, for the club to look at moving him on after less than six months at Bramall Lane.

While it’s understandable he might want more game time, he can’t really complain. And he hasn’t complained, based on what he said following the win over AFC Fylde at the weekend.

Furthermore, Freeman was one of the standout performers in that game. He played a part in both goals and looked like one of the sharper players in Chris Wilder’s XI.

As the season progresses, Freeman will be needed more and more. There are some big games coming up for the Blades and some big moments to be had.

Freeman will get his chance and, if United do stay up, he can head into the summer safe in the knowledge he’s played his part.
