Lundstram’s future has been a hot topic of discussion for a number of months. United have had a contract offer on the table for the former Everton man for a while now. Lundstram, meanwhile, has yet to accept the deal and is seemingly holding out for more money or a better offer elsewhere.

But with the bids not coming in it seems, Nixon claims that Lundstram is now set to stay put as interested parties bank on him being a free agent next summer.

The likes of Rangers and West Ham are said to have expressed an interest in the Blades star. But as yet, not move has come to fruition and ‘Lunny’ featured and scored in the Blades’ last friendly with Preston this week.

Chris Wilder has already said Lundstram will be involved as long as his attitude and commitment remains.

A boost for the Blades, Lundstram may well have his hand forced here – Our View

This has gone on far too long for a lot of fans and Chris Wilder has, at times, looked frustrated with the whole scenario.

However, it looks like United might have won out on this. Well, in the short-term at least. There is little point in us selling him now for a derisory bid, especially given the goals and contribution he made last season.

If he does decide to leave on a free, then so be it. This is a player we paid a minimal fee for and someone who has helped us get to and, hopefully, cement our place in the Premier League.

Whatever fee we get now will be insignificant to the monies that come with staying in the top-flight. Not to mention, we’d have to spend and take a risk on a new signing to replace him this summer.
