It looks like Sheffield United fans can finally kiss goodbye to one name who has been doing the rounds since the summer, with Manchester United winger Amad Diallo set to sign for Rangers.
United were linked with a move for Diallo when Slavisa Jokanovic was in charge. The Serbian was desperate for new wingers and was said to have been close to landing the Manchester United youngster at one point. However, interest from Feyenoord, and then an injury, ensured Diallo never ended up at Bramall Lane.
The winger is now back fit and firing though and is ready to play first-team football. But that opportunity won’t come at Bramall Lane. The Guardian has reported today that Diallo has agreed a deal to move to Ibrox and join Rangers.
Diallo, 19, has been given the blessing of Ralf Rangnick to play his football elsewhere for the rest of the campaign. He signed for Man United for more than £35m 12 months ago. But as yet, he’s failed to kick on.

Our View: Sheffield United Were Never Getting Amad Diallo
Perhaps that was part of the problem with Jokanovic and his team, but the fact is that Sheffield United were never bringing in a £35m+ winger on loan from Old Trafford. He’ll be on big money compared to our squad, for one.
Beyond that, there is the idea of Diallo – who Daniel James branded ‘unbelievable‘ – playing in the Championship. Sure, the SPFL isn’t the greatest league in the world. But with Rangers, at least he’ll be given the exposure to huge games and pressure. Something which comes hand in hand playing for Manchester United.
For the Blades, there are simply bigger fish to fry now. Dreams of landing a player like Diallo were always far-fetched, and even more so since Paul Heckingbottom came in. The club, as we know, is going in a different direction now.
It seems, then, that the Blades fans can – once and for all – put the name of Amad Diallo to bed, although it will be interesting to see how he does at Rangers.
