Crystal Palace could offer John Lundstram a Premier League lifeline, with the Eagles keen on a summer swoop for the midfielder.

As everyone knows, Lundstram is out of contract this summer and has so far refused to sign a new deal. And despite admitting recently that everything is still on the table, it’s pretty much accepted that the Blades number seven will be on his way.

Rangers have been strongly linked with Lundstram in the past. However, it seems it could well be Palace who offer the former Everton trainee a route back into the big time.

London News Online believe Palace are ready to offer Lundstram terms when the season ends. It would, of course, land ‘Lunny’ with a big Premier League contract at a club who are regular fixture in the top flight.

Perfect for John Lundstram but being honest, United should have dealt with this ages ago

This is not a dig at Lundstram in anyway. He’s been as good – or as bad – as anyone in red and white this season.

But the club should have dealt with this earlier. It’s lingered on all season and just left a cloud hanging over us we didn’t need. Wilder is clearly annoyed by it all, and fans are also equally disgruntled.

It begs the question too had fans been allowed in if Lundstram would have got a hard time from some sections. Especially if the results had stayed pretty similar to those we’ve seen without crowds.

Lundstram will get his nice Premier League contract if he does move to Palace. And that’s all well and good for him, and we wish him good luck.

But for Sheffield United, this has been a saga that has lingered on too long and caused an unwanted distraction all season long.
