Sheffield United will reportedly pay Chris Wilder around £7m in severance pay as the Blades boss nears an exit from Bramall Lane.
According to a report from the Mirror this evening, that is the figure United are expected to give Wilder in line with the terms of the new contract he signed just over a year ago.
It is a huge sum for Prince Abdullah and the club to swallow, especially in the midst of the pandemic and with relegation pending.
For Wilder, it will soften the blow somewhat, although we get the impression Wilder simply isn’t motivated by money and will see the pay-off as simply material.

The report also claims Wilder has been aware of his fate since before Christmas. The club are apparently unimpressed with the £23m buy of Rhian Brewster. The former Liverpool man has yet to score for the Blades.
Chris Wilder to get £7m pay-off…good for him
Trying to stay measured and down the middle on this whole saga is a tough one and frankly, if Wilder is getting a nice chunk of change then good for him.
There is no way the Blades should be sacking the man who has brought so much to the club in under five years of amazing success.
Prince Abdullah is making a huge call in allowing Wilder to walk away here, so if he’s having to stump up a lot of cash to get it resolved, then good for Chris Wilder for getting the riches he deserves for his work at Bramall Lane.
