Sheffield United won’t be signing Charlie Kirk this summer, with Charlton Athletic having confirmed a deal for the 23-year-old winger.
We reported last week how United were reportedly keen on bringing Kirk in from Crewe Alexandra. It was suggested a fee in the region of £500k might do the business for United.
However, Charlton have now confirmed a deal for Kirk. The tricky winger has penned a permanent contract with the Addicks, who are managed by former Sheffield United boss, Nigel Adkins.

It means United’s hunt for new faces this summer goes on. Ronaldo Vieira is reportedly almost a done deal. Reports suggest the midfielder is due to take a medical this weekend, before penning a season-long loan deal.
The big news this week, of course, has been that surrounding Aaron Ramsdale’s future with the club. Arsenal have apparently walked away from discussions now, with the Blades demanding £35m for the stopper.

Not the end of the world
While the signing of Charlie Kirk would have been a smart piece of cheap business, there was also a risk attached. He’s only ever done it at Crewe, and without disrespect, the expectation at United is much bigger.
Jokanovic and his team will now move on you’d think. Paul Mitchell will have a list of targets for the new boss, many of which the Serbian is said to have already approved.
With the Vieira signing almost done, attention will surely turn to someone in the wide areas, and a defender. It will also be interesting to see how Ramsdale’s move to Arsenal breaking down impacts proceedings.
