Sheffield United are now almost certain to miss out on Ollie Watkins, with reports from the Sun claiming Aston Villa will offer the forward £70k-a-week in wages.
Watkins is one of the most in-demand strikers in the English game this summer after having had a superb season for the Bees, where he fired in 26 goals.

The likes of United, Villa, Fulham, and Leeds have all been talked about when it comes to signing Watkins but it would appear that it is Dean Smith who is set to win the race for the striker.
Watkins will reportedly cost around £25m to whoever does sign him, while these £70k-a-week wages will put him well out of reach, especially for the Blades.

Chris Wilder, then, will have to move on. In fairness, the Blades boss has probably shifted from this one a long time ago and is already eyeing up fresh targets.
We just aren’t going to compete with that, it’s just the way it is – Our View
As a club, we all recognise where we are financially and sadly that means missing out on players who some fans would deem ideal targets at times.
Watkins was one of those. Pace, strength, power, goals, he has it all. But when someone comes in and offers wages which are probably double what our highest earner gets, then we have a problem.
Not to worry, though. Wilder will have other names in mind and will no doubt pull a rabbit out of the hat in the coming weeks with a few of his additions.
