Report: Aaron Ramsdale 'desperate' to seal Arsenal move this week

Sheffield United goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, is reportedly ‘desperate’ to seal a move away from the club in order to join Arsenal before the window shuts.

Despite reports locally suggesting that Ramsdale is happy in S2, there have been murmurings lately that the stopper is keen on making the move back to the Premier League with Arsenal.

Reports late last week suggested Ramsdale only wanted Arsenal. He is said to have shunned interest from other clubs, with the Gunners the only club to tempt him away from United.

But with a deal collapsing last week, Ramsdale is now said to be keen to make sure a move happens. Sunday’s print edition of The Mirror (p73), claims that the United number one is ‘desperate’ to seal a move.

It comes on the same day that reports also suggest Arsenal will come again for him this week. Bernd Leno endured a horror night against Brentford, and Mikel Arteta may now be forced to act.

No tantrums, but time could be right to sell

There’s no signs of Ramsdale downing tools or anything like that. And that is a credit to him. You’d imagine if he does stay put, then he’ll give his all and prove a valuable player for United.

But you also can’t deny him a move to such a prestigious club. Yes, Arsenal are struggling at the moment. But they remain a giant of the game, and the money they’d give ‘Rambo’ would be life changing.

This is a big week for Sheffield United now. If we sell Ramsdale, the money needs putting back into the first-team and quickly. The longer this goes on, the more it becomes a distraction.

Arsenal, then, need to either pay up, or walk away.
