Pep Guardiola offers giant praise for Chris Wilder

Man City manager, Pep Guardiola, has offered huge praise in the direction of Chris Wilder and his Sheffield United squad.

The Blades are preparing to host the champions at Bramall Lane tonight. After losing 2-0 at the Etihad over Christmas, Wilder’s men will be keen to try and avoid City doing a double over them.

City manager Pep Guardiola was impressed with United last time out. And speaking before tonight’s clash in S2, Guardiola offered some huge words of praise towards Wilder and his team.

“I saw some moments they’re doing and it’s the reason why they’re in the position they’re in,” Guardiola said. (

“I’m impressed and I admire how they play with the same manager and players coming into Premier League and I like it. As a manager you see things we can improve, they’re the ones to watch.”

Guardiola has seen his team slip away from the title race in the last few weeks. However, he’ll be keen to see his team bounce back from a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The highest of praise

It doesn’t come much better than one of the best managers in world football commending you and your team.

But such is the impact the Blades have had this season, it’s certainly warranted.

Pep Guardiola is a football genius. He has worked wonders at City, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. He knows his football and the fact he speaks so highly of Sheffield United speaks volumes for the club.

In a season where some pundits have, at times, written the Blades off, comments like this from Guardiola almost mean their opinions are obsolete.

The Blades are continuing to impress. There is, of course, every chance City will come to Bramall Lane and stick four or five past United.

On the other hand, there’s still a chance the Blades will put in a spirited display and get one over Pep Guardiola’s men.
