Oli McBurnie has five-word message to Sheffield United fans on Twitter

Whatever the future might hold for Oli McBurnie and Sheffield United, one thing that can’t be doubted is his genuine passion for the game.

McBurnie is often seen in the away end with Swansea City, while he also seems to get a high off the connection with the Bramall Lane faithful.

The big Scotland striker is currently out injured. Speculation, too, is beginning to gather about his Sheffield United future. Wolves have been linked with a £15m move. While in recent weeks, both Rangers and West Ham are said to have registered an interested.

Obviously, any sales will need to go through Slavisa Jokanovic now he is the man in charge. McBurnie could well be someone who flourishes under a new manager, too.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

He scored just once last season as he failed to build on the six he got in his opening Premier League season. However, there is hope his experience at Championship level can help him. Indeed, he did hit 24 goals the last time he was at this level.

And on the day when United chose to replay his famous last-minute equaliser against Manchester United, McBurnie had a quick message to supporters, via Twitter.

Sheffield United News View: Oli McBurnie can fire us to promotion but a £15m bid is too good to turn down as well

It’s so hard with McBurnie at times. We have championed him on this site more than once and want him to succeed. And we think has the tools. Especially at Championship level.

We’d like nothing more than to see him return from injury and fire from the off next term. But on the other side of that, if someone bids around £15m, how do we turn that down?

It would be a near full return on a player who – let’s be honest – divides opinion in the fanbase.

So, while this fan interaction is all well and good, we need to see more on the pitch. McBurnie can do it, he’s shown he can with Swansea. But for next season, actions will definitely speak louder than words.
