Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster may well end up staying at Anfield this summer after all, if comments from his former manager at Swansea, Steve Cooper, are to be believed.
The youngster is wanted by a number of clubs this summer, with the Blades said to be among those who have held positive talks with Jurgen Klopp about a potential move.
However, when questioned on if he’d like to bring Brewster back to Swansea, Cooper appeared to hint that the striker would be going nowhere.
“Rhian is with Liverpool now. If Rhian was available then, of course, we’d be in the mix, but I don’t think that’s the case at the moment,” Cooper said. (quotes from the Liverpool Echo)
Brewster played a pivotal role in helping Swansea to the playoffs last season, exploding into life following the restart with a flurry of goals. However, he is now back with his parent club and awaiting a decision on his future.
Jurgen Klopp, too, seemingly remains undecided. His previous comments have suggested he is weighing up a decision on the 20-year-old.
Unavailable…but maybe to Championship clubs only – Our View
Steve Cooper will know better than us, obviously, but you get the feeling that Brewster might be available for a Premier League loan, not a Championship one.
He has already proven himself in the second-tier so the next logical step is to see how he does in the PL.
Chances at Anfield are bound to be at a premium so you’d assume that Klopp will, eventually, decide to send Brewster out on loan to get even more experience under his belt.
Hopefully, for us Blades at least, Klopp directs the youngster towards Bramall Lane.
