Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, says he was not surprised to see Sheffield United win at Old Trafford last night.
The Gunners face Manchester United next, and Arteta will have been keeping a close eye on proceedings last night.
And speaking in his post-match press conference today, the Arsenal boss was unfazed by the Blades’ win, saying United are ‘organised’ and ‘a threat’ to any team.
“It is not a surprise because to beat any team in this league is extremely difficult and people take it for granted. Sheffield United are a really well organised team, they are a threat and they are good at what they do,” Arteta said.
“They lost many games by one goal, where they didn’t deserve to lose. Every game is a [challenge] in this league and anybody can beat anybody, and with the context and circumstances we have this season, it makes it even more difficult.”
Arsenal are one of those teams to beat the Blades by a single goal. The Gunners scraping past United 2-1 back in October.
Arteta, then, will have no doubt taken a lot from watching Chris Wilder’s tactical plan last night as he prepares for this weekend.
Arteta not surprised at Sheffield United win – Kind words from the Arsenal boss
Arteta might not be surprised, but most Blades fans were. And that’s not putting a negative on the win, it’s just most expected a hammering.
But once again, Wilder and his team proved us all wrong. And how glad we are that they did.
The Blades have maybe shown the way at Old Trafford. Be compact, work hard, and limit their best players to limited ball time.
