Who will be the next Sheffield United player to sign a new contract?
McGoldrick was set to be out of contract this summer, but will be rewarded for his fine form since arriving from Ipswich Town. The 31-year-old has scored 10 Championship goals already this season.
This comes after the Sheffield Star reported Billy Sharp will also sign a new deal until at least 2021.
Sharp has already triggered a 12-month extension to his current contract – which was also due to expire at the end of this term – having played 23 league games in 2018/19.
Yet manager Chris Wilder has been so impressed with the Blades captain he wants to tie the striker down for longer. The 32-year-old has netted 17 times himself this season.

Who’s next?

Earlier this month Wilder revealed that United were in discussions with Enda Stevens.
“Talks are still ongoing with Enda and a couple of others, too, that I’ll keep under wraps. Hopefully in a week or two we can announce those,” the Blades boss told the Sheffield Star.
“I’ve always said that we’re looking to tie the players down and not let their contracts run down, and it’s an ongoing process.”
Chris Basham is another who was put pen to paper on a new deal recently. Basham was also out of contract this summer, but has now signed until 2021.
Martin Cranie extended his short term stay at Bramall Lane until the end of this campaign.
Assuming McGoldrick and Sharp do sign – who could be the “couple of others” Wilder is referring to – only three players will be out of contract come June.
They are Simon Moore, Paul Coutts and Conor Washington. All three have been on the fringes of the first team this term. Therefore, whether or not they earn new deals remains to be seen.
