According to Talksport’s Alex Crook, Sheffield United are at the front of the queue to sign Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard.
The Blades are said to be interest in landing Lingard in January as Chris Wilder looks to use up both his domestic and foreign loan signings during the winter window.
Lingard, who is out of favour at Old Trafford, has emerged as a target in the last few days, although the likes of Newcastle and Brighton are also said to be keen.
And Crooks, speaking today on Talksport, believes Lingard will move on eventually and that as things stand, it is United who lead the race.
“There are plenty of Premier League clubs willing to give him the chance to relaunch his career.
“At this stage, I understand Sheffield United are the ones who are most keen. They’re in desperate need of creative spark, they’re really struggling for goals and wins this season,” Crooks said.
The Blades’ lack of goals has been a serious worry all season, although conceding has been just as big a problem with Jack O’Connell out.
With John Lundstram set to leave, Sander Berge injured, and John Fleck out of form, the signing of someone like Lingard in midfield could be a massive boost for Chris Wilder.
