Sheffield United fan-favourite and former loanee midfielder, Mo Besic, is set to leave Everton this summer after Carlo Ancelotti told him he was free to find another club.
The Liverpool Echo reports that the Everton boss has informed Besic he is no longer part of the plans at Goodison Park.
A full Bosnian international, Besic made a handful of appearances for the Blades during the first half of the season, including a memorable display against Man City when he flatted Aymeric Laporte, much to the delight of Bramall Lane!
However, Besic returned to Goodison when football was curtailed back in March. And it looks like his career in Merseyside is over, with Besic now on the lookout for another club.
Indeed, it is claimed the 27-year-old believes he can find a Premier League club. Whether Chris Wilder will return for his former player, however, remains to be seen.
A useful squad player but would Besic want to sit around on the bench all season?
While most Blades fans would probably say they’d take Besic back, where he would fit into the team would be a big issue for the Everton man.
Besic struggled to dislodge the likes of Lundstram and Norwood prior to lockdown, while Sander Berge has been excellent since the restart, too. Furthermore, Ben Osborn has stepped in to play well while Luke Freeman is also still on the books.
Overall, it might be a waste of time for Besic to return to Bramall Lane. It looks like United are moving onto bigger and better things which, sadly, means Besic may have to look elsewhere.
