Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has remained tight-lipped when it comes to the Gunners’ pursuit of a new goalkeeper, which could be Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale.
The Gunners have been credited with interest in Ramsdale. It’s believed that Arsenal will come with another bid this week, as United look to land around £30m for the England man.
Ramsdale was in the sticks last night at a packed Bramall Lane as United lost 1-0 to Birmingham City in the season opener. He clapped off the supporters at the end at length, with some suggesting it was a goodbye.
Arteta addresses Ramsdale talk
The Arsenal boss watched on today as his Gunners side lost 1-0 to Spurs in their final pre-season friendly.

And addressing talk of a new goalkeeper following the game, Arteta told the onlooking media that he is trying to improve his team.
“I don’t know what will happen. We train with the players we have that are available. We try to improve the team with players. The window is still open,” Arteta said.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Ramsdale has come as a surprise for some. The stopper enjoyed a fine season after a tough few months last term. But the £30m+ asking-price from United has got Gunners fans questioning the logic.
A big week to come?
Now the season is underway, you get the feeling things might start to pick up in the market. Managers have had their first glimpses in the Championship, while Premier League pre-seasons are all but done now.
Arsenal are expected to come for Ramsdale this week. But whether that bid meets United’s expectations, remains to be seen.
If the Blades are planning on accepting a bid, then we need to ensure some of the money is spent on reshaping this squad. There were clear areas for improvement in the XI last night, and £30m for Ramsdale will help nicely.
