Golfing superstar and self-confessed Sheffield United fan, Matt Fitzpatrick, has been turning some heads with his golf bag as he prepares for The Open this week.

The Sheffield-born superstar is looking to collect his first major with victory at Royal St Georges in Kent this week. He goes into the tournament in fine form, having just lost out in a playoff to Min-Woo Lee last week.

Fitzpatrick is friends with former United boss, Chris Wilder. And the two have shared their thoughts on the cross-over in Golf and Football before.

Keen eyed United fans, then, will have noticed a nice little tribute from ‘Fitzy’ to his home club today. The world number 20 was parading round with quite the eye-catching bag today, as picked up on The Open’s Twitter account.

Safe to say, then, that Fitzpatrick isn’t afraid to show where his loyalties lie ahead of a crucial week of golf in his career.

Fitzpatrick is yet to register a win on the PGA Tour. But, he has won six times on the European Tour. The 26-year-old is yet to come close to winning a major.

His best finish was at the 2016 US Masters, where he came a very respectable seventh. A win this week, then, would be most welcome for Fitzpatrick and pleasing on the eye for any onlooking Blades fans.

Good luck, Matt, the whole – well half at least – of Sheffield, is with you!
