Mark Lawrenson appears to have finally caved in and predicted the Blades to do well at Arsenal this weekend.
The former Liverpool defender is a regular for the BBC with his predictions. Throughout the season, he has been known to write off the Blades. So much so, it was only until December that ‘Lawro’ actually backed United to win for the first time all season.
However, now sitting in sixth and with some big results under their belts, Lawrenson appears to have had a change of heart over the Blades.
He’s taken the time out this week to predict how United will do in North London, and he’s gone for the Blades to take all three points.
Yes, Lawrenson has predicted a 2-1 win for Chris Wilder’s men at the Emirates. That, of course, is a result any United fan in the country would snap your hand off for at this moment in time.
The BBC pundit claims the Blades were ‘unlucky to come away empty-handed’ from Anfield and the Etihad a few weeks back.
Furthermore, he reckons a win against West Ham when not at our best, shows we can win ugly if needed.
A tough assignment awaits
While it’s nice to see Lawrenson giving the Blades his backing, it’s also a hard game to call.
United have, as he says, been brilliant away from home. However, Arsenal will look at this as one that, on paper, they should be going in search of the three points from.
Sure, the Blades sit well above them in the table. But the Gunners still possess world-class players. On their day, they are good enough to beat anyone in the league. Indeed, they showed that against Man United just a few weeks back.
While Lawrenson might well be right here, we are backing a more conservative draw.
