Manchester United have handed a new deal to experienced goalkeeper, Lee Grant, in a move that could see Dean Henderson remain at Sheffield United next term.
The former Derby County stopped has signed a new one-year deal with the Red Devils. This, despite being well down the pecking order and being out with injury. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though, has seen fit to hand Grant a new deal.

With David De Gea and Sergio Romero on the books, Grant’s chances of playing at Old Trafford remain slim. Couple that with Henderson’s growing reputation and form, and the experienced stopper’s hopes of game-time look slim.
However, the new deal for Grant potentially suggests that officials in Manchester could be preparing for a similar scenario next season.

What this might mean for Sheffield United and Dean Henderson
There are a number of situations that could be drawn out from Lee Grant penning new terms with Man United.
Firstly, it could be that the club is content with having Grant as back-up to David De Gea and Romero heading into next season. That would, of course, mean another spell away from the club for Henderson.

Henderson wouldn’t necessarily mind this you would assume. He is loved at Bramall Lane and his performances have been nothing short of excellent.
The other scenario, however, could be that the Red Devils are preparing to sell De Gea. They may, then, want Grant’s experience to help Henderson along. There has been plenty of talk of Henderson moving back to Old Trafford and replacing the Spaniard as number one.
Some ex-pros, however, are not in favour of this move for the 13-time Premier League champions. Indeed, former Republic of Ireland stopper, Shay Given, has already warned that Henderson may not yet be ready.
Whichever way this goes, it’s bound to create a stir amongst Blades fans. Supporters at Bramall Lane are desperate to see Henderson return. New deals for the likes of Lee Grant, then, only add fuel to the fire.
