Lys Mousset reveals Man City was his best performance in a Sheffield United shirt to date

Lys Mousset has highlighted a defeat at Man City for Sheffield United as his best performance in a Blades shirt so far.

The French striker has been out of form of late for the Blades. He last scored in January when Chris Wilder’s men ran out with a 1-1 draw at Wolves. Since then, Mousset has gone over 12 games without a goal, although he did set up John Lundstram’s winner against Bournemouth.

And after revealing in an interview with Goal that he had been experiencing off the field issues, Mousset also opened up a number of other questions.

The Frenchman answered a number of questions about his season so far. He was also quizzed on what he believed was his best performance individually this term and delivered quite a surprising response.

“I would say Manchester City, despite the defeat,” Mousset answered.

The Blades lost 2-0 at the Etihad that day. Indeed, Mousset did actually score that day only to see his effort ruled out by a marginal offside VAR decision.

However, Mousset also commented on another fixture he felt went well, which doesn’t come as big as a surprise.

“Or Burnley in early November. I made three assists, it was a good game,” Mousset added.

United ran out 3-0 winners against the Clarets on that day. Mousset was a handful all day and laid on all three goals as John Lundstram bagged two and John Fleck added a third.

A number of good displays to choose from

Mousset’s form earlier in the season means he could have picked a number of games where he was close to his best. He did put in a fine display against Man City but he is missing out the home tie against Man United, where he looked unplayable for the first 45 minutes.

The Frenchman also scored a fine goal at Everton while he also impressed at Wolves when he scored his last goal.

All in all, despite his recent struggles, Lys Mousset can count his first season at Bramall Lane as a success.
