Sheffield United striker Lys Mousset has once again been injured, this time while playing for the Blades’ under-23s side this evening.
Mousset, given a start in attack for the young Blades at Nottingham Forest, went down just after the 10 minute mark holding his ankle.
However, after giving it another 10 minutes or so to see if the pain eased and despite calls from the bench for him to plough on, Mousset was withdrawn on the 28th minute.
It is yet another bitter blow for Mousset and Sheffield United, who were hoping to get some minutes into the Frenchman after his miserable season.
Mousset has missed games through injury and has also had off-field issues, with a car crash a few months back just about summing up the whole of the 2020/21 campaign for United.
This latest knock will not only set Mousset back, but will once again leave Chris Wilder scratching his head as to what ladder he might have walked under at some point in the last year.
On a night that looked set for Mousset to shine and put his case forward for a recall to the first-team squad, the player, fans, and management have once again been left cursing their luck.
