Sheffield United have been dealt a potential blow in their pursuit of Ipswich Town defender, Luke Woolfenden.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Bramall Lane in recent weeks. His form for the Tractor Boys has been excellent, leading to admiring glances from the Blades.

However, Woolfenden appears to have cooled talked of a potential move, admitting that he expects to stay at Portman Road for the rest of the season at least.

“It’s nice to be linked with big clubs. But I’m just focusing on taking Ipswich back to where they belong,” Woolfenden said. (Sheffield Star).
“I don’t really get involved in all of that (transfer talk). If you let your head get turned you might go out and have a shocker of a game so I’m not going to let that kind of thing get to me.
“I wouldn’t say my head’s been turned at all and I think I’ll be here for the rest of the season because it’s not in my head to leave.”
Those comments from Woolfenden suggest that he is aware of interest from clubs. However, it does appear he is willing to stay in Ipswich for the time being, meaning the Blades might have to look elsewhere.
United boss, Chris Wilder, is thought to be keen on landing more new recruits in January. After adding Jack Rodwell and Jack Robinson, Wilder is looking to bring in more fresh faces.
One for the summer, maybe
There definitely seems to be something with these Woolfenden links. The fact he’s talking about his future suggests that there has been some sort of bid or conversation between between the clubs.

It might be, then, that the Blades revisit this one in the summer. January is always tricky to bring players in, not to mention the inflated fees we often see.
Woolfdenden is a talent and right in the mould of a Chris Wilder signing. Once Premier League survival is secured, United might well look to snap Luke Woolfenden up ASAP.
