As if things couldn’t get any more difficult for Sheffield United, Liverpool could well have Diogo Jota back from injury this weekend.
The Daily Mail reports that Jota is back in training with the Reds, after missing the last few months through injury.
Jota had been in fine form for Liverpool prior to his injury. A big money signing from Wolves in the summer, he had scored nine goals in just 17 games for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit. Coincidentally, one of those strikes came against United back in October.
And while the Mail claims the game with Chelsea on the 4th March is a more likely return date for Jota, it wouldn’t be overly surprising to see him included in Liverpool’s squad at Bramall Lane.
The Reds are in the midst of a miserable run of form. Klopp, then, might well opt to put Jota back in the fold to give his side a much needed injection of flair in attack.
Diogo Jota brings a big threat for Liverpool
Just the news Sheffield United wanted to here, eh? A big player, with a knack of scoring goals with lightning pace, returning just in time to potentially face the Blades.
Jota is an outstanding player. And given the Reds are struggling in general, his return will likely boost the entire squad.
United, likely to be with the most makeshift defence we have seen in a long time, will be hoping that Jota isn’t quite ready come Sunday evening.
