Sheffield United signed a number of a players this summer once again, as Chris Wilder made moves in the market to strengthen his ranks.
A new number one in Aaron Ramsdale came into the club, while United acted late in the day to sign Rhian Brewster for a club-record fee just before the deadline. In between, good squad players like Ethan Ampadu, Jayden Bogle, and Max Lowe, all arrived at Bramall Lane.
However, one player who didn’t arrive in Sheffield was the heavily-linked Nigerian striker, Emmanuel Dennis.
Walfoot claimed that the Blades were in the race for Dennis as the deadline approached, with his current club, Club Brugge, demanding a fee of around £18m for their man.
Of course, no deal ever materialised. Brewster arrived instead and Blades fans will be hoping that the former Liverpool man can be the answer to our goalscoring woes.
But what happened to Dennis, and did he get his Premier League move anyway?
Not quite…he’s still stuck in Belgium
Remarkably, despite a wealth of interest around Europe, Dennis ended up staying put with Brugge and must now crack on with the Belgian’s for this season, or at least until January.
HLN claimed that West Brom did try to make a last-ditch move to sign the 22-year-old on deadline day, but a move was put on hold due to issues in obtaining a work-permit.
So, for all the speculation and excitement among some Blades fans over Dennis, the Nigerian is still at square one and must now bide his time if he is to get his dream PL move.
