Sheffield United’s SUTV pundit and former player, Kevin Gage, has said that Oli McBurnie simply has to start the next game away at Luton Town.
McBurnie failed to get on the scoresheet again against Blackburn Rovers today but did everything but hit the back of the net with a fine performance up top. Playing as the ideal foil for Reda Khadra and Sander Berge, McBurnie was on the end of and created chances, only to find the Rovers goalkeeper in fine fettle.
But with the race to be United’s main number nine option hotting up and Paul Heckingbottom having different options, McBurnie can be happy with his days work, albeit without that elusive goal.

And according to former United man Gage, McBurnie has done enough to warrant being selected in the next game away at Luton Town.
“I’ll tell you what he has done with that performance. I think he’s cemented himself in the side for Luton. I don’t think you can drop him now cos I think he’s a great foil for whoever is up there with him,” Gage said on SUTV.

McBurnie has suffered with injuries in recent months but has worked hard to get back to full fitness recently. The big striker will be hoping to hit the net soon enough and go on a run of goals so many have backed him to do at The Lane for some time now.
Our View: McBurnie Rises To The Occasion
Paul Heckingbottom is certainly giving the strikers their chance up top and out of everyone to play as the number nine this season, Oli McBurnie arguably delivered the most today.
McBurnie led the line brilliantly and offered good touch, strength and composure in bringing others into play. The only thing missing was that elusive goal, which should come if he keeps playing as he did today.
Kevin Gage is right here. McBurnie starts at Luton, where hopefully that goal will come.
