Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Liverpool do hold an interest in Sheffield United’s Sander Berge, ahead of the January window.

Berge has long been considered a target for a number of Premier League sides. In the summer, Berge’s future was constantly talked about, with Club Brugge and Chelsea among those said to be close to signing him.

In the end, Berge stayed put. And since then, he has once again been held back by injury. However, Berge could return to the starting XI against Wigan tonight.

And amid reports recent of Liverpool and Chelsea looking at Berge again in January, Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that the Reds definitely have an admiration for Berge.

“They kind of waited to see what his reaction to the injury would be, make sure he responded well to it, make sure there were no repercussions and see if he could get his form back,” Jones said.

“So, it will be interesting to see now whether they do rekindle their interest firmly in him because there’s absolutely no doubt they like this player.”

Recent reports locally have suggested United are confident of keeping the Norwegian in January. The Blades could be faced with bids for Berge, as well as impressive forward, Iliman Ndiaye.

We all saw the best of Sander Berge from around this point last season and his return from injury is timely.

On his day, there are few midfielders in the league better than him. Berge can beat defenders, score goals, and dictate games. He really is that good at this level.

For Liverpool, you can see why they might be keen. However, they won’t want to shell out on Berge in January you feel and for the Blades, it will be like having a new signing.
