Slavisa Jokanovic explains what didn't please him about Sheffield United against Derby

Sheffield United might have finally nicked it in the end against Derby County this weekend, but Slavisa Jokanovic wasn’t overly happy with what went down at Bramall Lane.

Billy Sharp’s late penalty was enough for United to take all three points against Wayne Rooney’s side. It came after mounting pressure from the Blades, although Tom Lawrence could have nicked it in injury time.

And speaking after the game to Yorkshire Live, Blades boss Jokanovic admitted he didn’t like what he saw from his side in the final 20 minutes.

“Last 20 minutes I detect body language I didn’t like They need to trust they will score the goal. We did not connect any passes in the last three minutes maybe thinking about Preston but we need to play with personality until last moment,” Jokanovic commented.

“Yes, we tried to put them in trouble but did not create very well. We went down the side a lot and in the end they made one big mistake to give us chance to win the game.”

Jokanovic could be seen on the touchline as soon as Billy Sharp scored issuing instructions to his team, rather than celebrating.

Our View: Jokanovic right, United need to improve on seeing games out

We’ve seen this a few times with United this season. We conceded late against both Huddersfield and Preston, and it needs to stop really.

Better sides will take these chances we seem to give and Jokanovic and the players need to address it. Derby, on another day, come out with a 1-1 draw yesterday and it would have stung immensely.

The good thing is that Jokanovic has time to work on it now with his Sheffield United squad. We saw the improvement after the last international break in terms of attack. Perhaps, then, United will address defensive issues over the next one.

Before that, though, are two big games away from home. Jokanovic will be hoping his team have learnt their lesson.
