Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has given an injury update on John Fleck ahead of the Premier League trip to Leicester City.

The Blades travel to the King Power Stadium on Thursday night in fantastic form. They have taken 10 points from their last four games.

They are also on the back of successive victories against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea. It keeps United in the race for European qualification in their first top flight season in 12 years.

Wilder’s side are currently in seventh position, which could be good enough to qualify for the Europa League next term. Leicester, meanwhile, are in the Champions League places in fourth.

However, they are level on points with fifth-placed Manchester United, with Wolves and the Blades four and five points behind respectively.

It is therefore good news that Wilder could have a fully fit squad to face the Foxes. Fleck and Luke Freeman remain the only concerns ahead of Thursday.

“We’re hopeful John Fleck will be involved Thursday night,” Wilder said in his pre-match press conference.

“Couple of bangs and bruises from the weekend, but I’m believing from the medical department we’re all fit to go.”

Yet even if Fleck is fit, that still doesn’t mean the Scotland international will return to the starting XI. In his absence, Ben Osborn has been impressive in central midfield.

Osborn has linked up well with Enda Stevens on the left, while Ollie Norwood and Sander Berge have done well alongside him in the middle.

It will still be welcome news for Wilder should he have an injury-free squad for the final three fixtures of 2019/20. After Leicester, the Blades then host Everton on July 20, before finishing the campaign with a trip to Southampton on July 26.

With a European place possibly up for grabs, Wilder will need as much personnel as possible to call upon.
