Jack Grealish comes out in support of Oli McBurnie

Aston Villa and England midfielder, Jack Grealish, has come out in support of Oli McBurnie following another controversial week for the Blades striker.

McBurnie was allegedly captured on video this week having an altercation with a small group of youths close to his home in West Yorkshire. In the footage, what appears to be McBurnie can be seen approaching the group, before a scuffle breaks out and a phone appears to be stamped on.

Naturally, the footage has split opinion among Blades fans. The big striker is a controversial figure at times. He’s been in trouble for drink driving, while he also drew attention for his participation in the Swansea crowd.

But newer footage has emerged since the incident appearing to show the group goading McBurnie into a reaction. As usual, it made it’s way onto social media platforms.

However, McBurnie seems to have got some backing from within the game over the footage, as Aston Villa star Grealish took time out on Twitter to have his say and seemingly back the United striker.

Police are dealing with the incident and the BBC have reported that a 24-year-old man has been arrested, and since released on bail.

Jack Grealish backs Oli McBurnie but he still divides opinion

It’s a tough one to assess, this. On one hand, McBurnie should just be walking away and knowing it’s going to lead to more. He’s been in similar situations before where he’s got the wrong headlines, so he should know better.

On the flipside, he is still a human as Grealish says and it’s hard to say whether many of us would react differently. This latest footage will also just be a snippet of the full incident you’d imagine.

Sadly for McBurnie, it will look bad on him here. The issue is the other periods of trouble that’s he’s already been part of. After a frustrating season as a team and on a personal level, this was the last thing he needed.

You really do fell McBurnie is approaching last-chance saloon time with United. The new manager will, in all likelihood, have a big say on his future.
